Conceived within a plurilingual and pluricultural perspective on language learning and teaching, this coursebook fully recognizes the value of pedagogical translation and other bilingual communicative activities as forms of cross-linguistic mediation that foster plurilingualism. The book focuses on written translation and is aimed at undergraduate students of English with an excellent command of Italian at European Level C2 or above. By the end of the course, students will become familiar with linguistic concepts that will enable them to analyse the morplhemic structure of words, lexical and sense relations, word classes, as well as the structure of phrases, clauses and sentences. They will also become aware of the relevance of these key notions for carrying out contrastive analysis of English and Italian languages and developing the receptive and productive skills necessary for translating a variety of written texts in accord with the new descriptors of the CEFR (Council of Europe 2028).
