L'impossibile memoria neutra della UE. Riflessioni intorno alla risoluzione del Parlamento europeo del 19 settembre 2019

Analisi delle risoluzione del Parlamento Europeo "Sull'importanza della memoria europea per il futuro dell'Europa", del 19 settembre 2019. Si tracciano le novità di un asse memoriale che risponde ad esigenze dei paesi di nuova accessione dell'Europa dell'Est e in particolare a richieste della Polonia e dell'Ungheria. Il saggio spiega le modifiche degli assi narrativi e del giudizio sulla seconda guerra mondiale nelle posizioni del Parlamento europeo e del Consiglio dal 2005 a oggi e le confronta con quelle precedenti, a partire dagli anni Ottanta del sec. XX. Si inquadrano le differenze tra le posizioni dei paesi membri, il declino delle narrative antifasciste e l'emergere di un asse antitotalitario.

Analysis of the European Parliament document on "The importance of Memory and Remembrance for the future of Europe", 19 Sept. 2019. The essay explains the lines of devolpment of a memorial trend that answers to the requests of newly acceded EU member States of Central and Eastern Europe, especially from Hungary and Poland. The changes of narratives and judgement on World War Two are here traced back through an analysis of EP resolutions and other EU documents on the politics of memory from the Eighties until today. The essay sees a decline of antifascist narratives and tries to explain the political and cultural implications of a antitotalitarian narrative which reflects the history of only some of EU countries, and seems conditioned by the present.
