This paper focuses the important role that the world wide web can play in the process of stakeholder engagement. In particular, through making use of online interaction, i.e. the tools of web 1.0 and above all web 2.0, particularly social media and social networks, the process of stakeholder engagement could improve. In such background, the aim of this work is to assess the quality of the process of stakeholder engagement in all non financial companies listed on the Italian Stock Exchange and, consequently, demonstrate that, in these companies, social media can help improve the quality of the process of stakeholder engagement
