L'anima e il candore. Pirandello secondo Bontempelli

In his memorial speech for Pirandello in 1937, Bontempelli regarded <<candour>> as the <<original trait>> in the life and work of his great dead friend, using his own 'modern' poetics in order to interpret Pirandello's troubled modernistic experimentation. Because of this, the tragic clash between the idea and the representation - between time and form - that affects Pirandello's characters was overturned by Bontempelli in the Platonic and timeless dimension which his characters thematised, instead, showing a persistent influence of Croce's philosophy on his 'Novecentismo'.
