Abstract

The ability to recognize joint position of the elbow has been studied in two neurological patients with more disability and without somesthesic impairment, and in two healthy subjects. From the results obtained it appears that subjects, even if healthy as to sensitive systems, have uncertain perception of joint position when damaged only in motor systems. Implications of such a hypothesis are discussed.
