Edoardo Volterra, il fascismo e le leggi razziali

Il contributo indaga la vicenda accademica e umana di Edoardo Volterra, professore di diritto romano, dal luglio del 1938 al 1945. Esso ricostruisce le vicende del suo allontanamento dall'Università in forza della legislazione razziale del 1938, del suo peregrinare tra l'Africa e l'Europa, e della sua attiva partecipazione alla Resistenza italiana; altresì mette in evidenza come tale vicenda non abbia interrotto la sua attività di ricerca condotta anche grazie all'aiuto e al sostegno di accademici italiani ed esteri.

The contribution investigates the academic and human story of Edoardo Volterra, professor of Roman law, from July 1938 to 1945. It reconstructs the events of his departure from the chair under the racial legislation of 1938, of his pilgrimage between Africa and Europe, and of his active participation in the Italian Resistance; it also highlights how this story had not interrupted his research activity, also thanks to the help and support of Italian and foreign academics.
