«La pioggia continua converte in bozzacchioni le sosine vere». Sui rischi del dantismo 'di massa'

Dopo circa dodici anni di selezione di lavori scientifici per la sezione “Dante contemporaneo”, il curatore ritiene opportuno un bilancio di quanto è stato fatto, ma al contempo mette in guardia da una deriva ludica che paiono prendere gli studi sulla tradizione dantesca. L’attenzione alle forme dell’industria culturale (letteratura di massa, cinema, televisione, balletti, filatelia, fumetti, canzoni, pubblicità, videogiochi) è necessaria alla valutazione della fortuna di Dante nella società contemporanea, ma espone al rischio di enfatizzare opere di modestissimo valore estetico e prive di fedeltà semantica nei confronti della Commedia, schiacciando, invece, l’attenzione da riservare a opere colte di grande complessità.

After about twelve years of selection of scientific works for the section "Contemporary Dante", the editor considers appropriate a balance of what has been done, but at the same time he warns against a probable negative drift of the studies on Dantesque tradition. The attention to the forms of the cultural industry (mass literature, cinema, television, ballet, philately, comics, songs, advertising, videogames) is necessary to the evaluation of the fortune of Dante in the contemporary society, but it exposes the the risk to emphasize works of very modest aesthetic value and devoid of semantic fidelity towards the Divine Comedy; and above all it crushes the attention to works of great quality and complexity.
