3-Dimethylaminopropylamine (DMAPA) (CAS no. 109–55-7) is an ali-phatic amine used for the synthesis of betaines often present inthe final product as a contaminant; DMAPA is able to induce contactallergy. DMAPA may be contained in personal care products andseveral industrial products such as agricultural chemicals, fabric soft-eners, water-resistant textile fibers, synthetic dyes and paints, etc. Inthis study, the prevalence of positive patch test reactions to DMAPAduring 2018 in Italian patients was assessed.
