In this work we complete and improve the numerical criteria and algorithms given in [J. C. Rosales and P. A. García-Sánchez, Semigroup Forum 58 (1999)] and [J. C. Rosales and P. A. García-Sánchez, Proc. Edinburgh Math. Soc. (2) 41 (1998)] to determine if the semigroup ring associated to a simplicial affine semigroup is Cohen-Macaulay or a free complete intersection.
