The murder of a child is perceived, at a social and moral level, as a crimen atrox, an act aimed at irreparably breaking the natural bond between parent and child. This qualitative work has the objective of identifying, through the analysis of international and national literature, the major risk factors relating to victims and authors. and the reasons behind such a depressing action. In particular, an analysis was made of the data emerging from the Eures research on homicides in the family in Italy, in order to identify the frequency and trend of the phenomenon, from 2000 to 2018, and the prevalent characteristics of the actors of this offense, in order to propose possible preventive interventions.
