With the present paper the authors wish to share with scholars some thoughts on global archaeology of landscapes, in the wake of a consolidated research experience carried out in Northern Apulia. In the first paragraph the theme of a “global” or “complex” approach to the study of stratified landscapes is addressed. The second section is focused on the definition, or better, the definitions of “landscape”. In the third paragraph, the concepts of “site” and “stratigraphy” are presented as solid certainties for any study on the historical interaction between man and environment. These matters are then followed by a reflection on “conceptualized landscapes” and “forgotten landscapes”. The article is finally closed by an analysis of the relationships between global archaeology, landscape archaeology, land planning and protection of cultural heritage.

Abstract
The article is finally closed by an analysis of the relationships between global archaeology, landscape archaeology, land planning and protection of cultural heritage.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
