This paper presents the software development environment TASIS with particular emphasis on its repository TASIS-IRDS. TASIS-IRDS is based on both ANSI and ISO IRDS standard proposals and has been implemented on top of the ORACLE relational DBMS. In order to gather experimental knowledge on the validity of this approach, a preliminary performance evaluation, which is reported, has been carried out.
