During the 1982 Anglo-Argentine Falklands War, the Holy See found itself in a delicate situation. A visit from the Pope to Britain was planned, important for the purposes of relations with the Anglican Church, and for the comfort of the Catholic minority. On the other side was Argentina, a country with an overwhelming majority of Catholics, who could have misinterpreted the purpose of the visit. The difficulty is solved by organizing a visit to Argentina, when, however, the fate of the war had practically ended.

Abstract
During the 1982 Anglo-Argentine Falklands War, the Holy See found itself in a delicate situation. A visit from the Pope to Britain was planned, important for the purposes of relations with the Anglican Church, and for the comfort of the Catholic minority. On the other side was Argentina, a country with an overwhelming majority of Catholics, who could have misinterpreted the purpose of the visit. The difficulty is solved by organizing a visit to Argentina, when, however, the fate of the war had practically ended.File in questo prodotto:
