The book fully recognizes the benefits that pedagogical translation brings to English Language Teaching (ELT). The book is aimed at undergraduate students of English with Italian as their own language. Students will become familiar with the linguistic concepts that will enable them to analyse the structure of words, their lexical and sense relations, word classes, as well as the construction of phrases, clauses and sentences. They will also become aware of the relevance of these concepts for examining the similarities and differences between English and Italian for translation purposes. Each chapter contains a wide rrange of graded texts, language activities and translation tasks. A useful glossary defining linguistic terminology is also provided together with a key chapter for self-study. The book is accompanied by a digital workbook, English Lexis, Grammar and Translation, authored by Richard D.G. Braithwaite.
