This contribution deals with the interpretation of the Cartesian doctrine of realitas obiectiva elaborated by Etienne Gilson. In detail, the fire of the research is constituted by the debate on Descartes which interested Etienne Gilson himself and Roland Dalbiez, a disciple of Gilson who dealt with the history of ideas as conceived by his master, and with the scholastic sources of Cartesian philosophy.
