In this article the author tries to focus the translation problems of Gil Vicente’s works: range of problems that goes from the use of Portuguese and Castilian languages, to the rigorous use of the verse; from the presence on the stage of Italian and Piccardian characters, to Gipsy and Moor characters; from the use of various linguistic registers, to the temporal and cultural distances that separate the nowadays readers from those of Portugal of the 15th century.
