Since 1999, a special commission of the Conference of Italian University Rectors’ (CRUI) has defined a project to exploit and enhance the historical and scientific heritage conserved in our universities, with purposes related both to research and to the social and educational role that the university plays. Although the CRUI’s Museums Commission is no longer active, the process of conservation, research and dissemination regarding the historically and scientifically important collections held by Italian universities continues unabated, albeit not without some difficulty. As a result of this situation, now well established and widespread in Italian universities, the National Agency for the Assessment of University Systems and Research (ANVUR) has included university museums in the activities of the “third mission” of universities. These activities involve the initiatives of each university for science communication and dissemination and they are used for calculation of a reference numerical value for the comparison and evaluation of Italian universities. Our contribution considers the elements required by ANVUR for the evaluation of university museum activities, with an attempt to identify the positive and critical aspects in relation to a broad view of their importance and their effective ability to illustrate the real situations.

Abstract
Our contribution considers the elements required by ANVUR for the evaluation of university museum activities, with an attempt to identify the positive and critical aspects in relation to a broad view of their importance and their effective ability to illustrate the real situations.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
