Abstract

THE SPREAD AND THE USE OF TECHNOLOGICAL COMMUNICATION MEDIA IN THE GLOBALISATION ERA: A STRUCTURALLY UNBALANCED PROCESS A fundamental characteristic of the globalisation process in its complexity and multiform essence is certainly given by communication and its technologies. The new models of social interaction - ever more pervaded, in their form and in their content, with the use of technological media in their fast evolution - have been modifying the models of social organisation of communication and becoming an interpretation tool useful and important in the sociological analysis of the social action within a given symbolic-cultural system. The theme of inequalities and its pervert effects in the process of globalisation refers to complex and numerous dimensions: politics and democracy, trade liberalisation, human rights, workers’ protections and environment respect, alphabetisation and development of technological and communication instruments. The analysis of data from International Organisation (OECD, UNDP, WTO and WB) proposes a verification of significant relations among the dynamics of the inequalities and the development, spread and use of communication technological media, such as the unequal spread of Internet in the urban and rural areas of a same country and the uneven income redistribution level in the same areas).
