A vanishing point rather than point of view, “you” appears more and more in the scriptural texture of French extremely contemporary production as a structure of the novel thanks to its oblique nature. Considering the specific typology of this pronoun and rebuilding the examples which preceded Butor, the novel narrated in the second person is more than a mere manner to question the narrative pact. Anne Godard’s L’Inconsolable (2006) and Régis Jauffret’s Lacrimosa (2008) allow to identify present considerations around the “you”, by questioning the sources and resources of this choice.

Abstract: | A vanishing point rather than point of view, “you” appears more and more in the scriptural texture of French extremely contemporary production as a structure of the novel thanks to its oblique nature. |
