This study is focused principally on a marble statue of the Madonna with Child, formerly dated of XIV century but now clearly demonstrated to belong to the XV century. This comparative analysis allows to date the statue between 1420 and 1440, due to historical and stylistic reasons. The marble statue of the Virgin at Cerignola (Foggia) seems unaware of the iconography present in the city mistaking it for the icon in Ripalta (Foggia); this one instead is clearly a model for another icon, namely at Ascoli Satriano (Foggia) which shows some golden lilies, the symbols of the Angevin Family. The comparison between the two icons gives us the possibility of making some considerations regarding the various Marian iconography models in Puglia circulating during the XIV and XV centuries. Other testimonials will be seen by the reader, as the Virgin with Child belonging to the pulpit of Nicola di Bartolomeo da Foggia, clearly dependent of the byzantine models, still in use in the Pugliese sculpture of the XV century.
