The new urban tourism is probably one of the major structural changes in tourism, after the mass tourism generated by the increased purchasing power of households, the reduction of working time and the offer prices constantly decreasing transport . Tourism, therefore, represents a strategic component of any policy to urban planning that aims to propose a competitive offer must meet or exceed the expectations of visitors contributing at the same time, in a positive way the city's development and welfare of its inhabitants. This paper will outline the new trends of urban tourism and the effects it can produce in terms of cost and sustainability in cities. In particular, we will refer to the case of the city of Bari, which only in recent years is presenting itself on the tourist market.
