Abstract
It is during the dramatic historical phase of the crisis of the Republic that Cicerone’s reflection on the State is placed, as an extreme attempt to recover the founding values of the Roman respublica, which was risking to irremediably succumb in a progressive political and moral degradation. Inside the conceptual picture in which Ciceronian De re publica is structured, all the themes that in turn unravel seem to converge around the masterful definition of ‘res publica’. The 'institutional notions' which characterise the sculptural definition, although integrating with the platonic-aristotelian theories on the genesis of the state, sink their roots on purely Roman elements, that belong to the principles of the iuris consuetudo and of the Roman juridical and political lexicon.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
