The first real test of tightness in building unified European foreign policy that was building the Second World War is represented by Anglo-Argentine conflict. For the first time on the territory of a member country of the European community it is attacked militarily. Europe is divided between the political need to support an ally, Britain, the reluctance of public opinion opposed to the conflict, and the economic interests at stake with all of Latin America. Overall the reaction manifests cohesive and consistent, thanks also to the relative brevity of the crisis.
