Apulia is the region of link between the streets of pilgrims of the East and the West. The essay analyzes the strong presence of the cult of Saint James of Compostella in Apulia, in the medieval period, and the importance also in relation to the pilgrimage to the Holy Land. By bringing together written sources and different disciplines and by relying on important archaelogical findings, the essay show that an important player of medieval pilgrimage, in which Apulia and her cities kept their centrality. By reconstructing the itinerary delineated by a comparative analysis of sources, it’s possible to recreate the unknow historical, social, environmental landscape and re-evaluate it touristically speaking.
