This paper focuses on a passage from M. Terentius Varro’ s de vita populi Romani, specifically one dedicated to the etimology of curia from cura. Varro proposes the same etimology in his de lingua Latina, but the explanation of the link curia/cura in the fragment of the de vita populi Romani is different from that of the de lingua Latina. In these pages the meaning of this definition and the reason of the choice of Varro in the de vita populi Romani are discussed also from a political perspective.
