Per una nuova edizione dei Commentarii serviani alle Georgiche: i manoscritti del Servius auctus

In vista di una nuova edizione del commentario serviano al 1° libro delle « Georgiche », si propone una riflessione critica sull’edizione di G. Thilo (1881-1887) e sui criteri da adottare per una nuova «constitutio textus», che dovrà basarsi su un raffronto sinottico dei due principali manoscritti contenenti il «Seruius auctus», più in linea con le scelte degli editori Harvardiani che con quelle di Thilo, che privilegiò l'edizione tardoantica del Servio vulgato, piuttosto che la compilazione successiva.

The greatest lack of Thilo’s edition of Servius is the choice of editing Servius Vulgatus (S) along with the so-called Servius Auctus (DS). That is an editorial standard which is not shared by Harvard editors of the Servian Commentaries, but recently it has been adopted again. The study aims to deal with the problems regarding these criteria, at the light of the manuscript tradition of DS, which reveals that almost each witness shows a different shape and a particular form of the conflation of S with the other exegetical source. As the aim of the author is to give a new critical edition of the Commentary on Georgics I, the textual differences between the only two manuscripts, which contain DS comment to this book, are taken into account, in order to highlight that a synoptic edition of S and the two streams of DS is the most fitting method to edit the Servian Commentary on Georgics I.
