‘Allait + infinitif’ et sa traduction en italien : imminence et/ou futur dans le passé ?

The Italian translation of ‘allait + infinitive’ : immediacy and/or futurein-the past ? This research deals with the French periphrasis ‘allait + infinitive’ and aims at identifying the criteria to distinguish its immediacy and future interpretations. This structure will be analyzed in contemporary French grammars and in two specialized approaches, whereas, from a contrastive point of view, we will verify which Italian verbal structures are suggested to translate it in four French grammars for Italophones. These structures will be tested in a French press corpus translated into Italian in order to put forward a categorization of ‘allait + infinitive’ adapted not only for French but also for its Italian translation.
