Review of the main subjects faced by Franco De Felice from 1980 to his death. The article suggests that De Felice expanded his topics beyond the working class to contemporary State, adopting an approach close to International Political Economy. The essay suggests that he faced thus a debate on the crisis of Italian Marxism and of the Italian Communist Party. In the Nineties he broadened further his thinking on the foundation of historical research and methodology.
