The first part of the book analyses the story of the "Journal de voyage" text, from the discovery of the manuscript (description of the various protagonists and recollection of the events)until the contemporary reception. In the second part the first editions (1774-75) are philologically described. In the third part, a critical bibliography analyses the various editions and translations and finally the critical studies on the text.
