Abstract

The non-violent tradition has structured a deep consideration about the forms of democratic participation of which the essay resumes the gandhian experiences of community life founded on the swaraj and swadeshi principles, in the view of the sarvodaya, the well-being of all. In the Italian context, these have to be added with the thoughts and deeds oeuvre of Aldo Capitini, who founds his idea of non-violence on the power from below and omnicracy, the government of all. In light of these two reference points, the essay verifies the proximity to non-violence of the most recent experimentation in terms of alternative lifestyles.
