The study of mollusc thanatocoenosis of the soft bottoms off Torre Guaceto allowed two typical species associations to be recognized. The first at about 60 m depth, on terrigenous muds, characterized by the gastropod Turritella communis and the second, at about 130 m, on muddy costal detritic bottoms characterized by bivalves Neopycnodonte cochlear.
