The Pliocene sedimentation in the Bradanic Trough was mainly characterized by the migration of turbidite systems from NW toward SE. In contrast, during Quaternary times, sedimentation was mainly characterized by post-turbidite systems which initially followed the same direction of progradation of the turbidite systems but successively, owing to the uplift of the area and starting from the central part of the trough, erosionally and centrifugally sloped down to N (central Adriatic coast), to E (south Adriatic coast) and SSE (Ionian coast). Contrarily to the north-central Apennines Foredeep, which is characterized by depositional regressions in subsiding Quaternary remnant basins, the Bradanic Trough is characterized by erosional regressions due to the Quaternary uplift of the region.

Abstract
The Pliocene sedimentation in the Bradanic Trough was mainly characterized by the migration of turbidite systems from NW toward SE. In contrast, during Quaternary times, sedimentation was mainly characterized by post-turbidite systems which initially followed the same direction of progradation of the turbidite systems but successively, owing to the uplift of the area and starting from the central part of the trough, erosionally and centrifugally sloped down to N (central Adriatic coast), to E (south Adriatic coast) and SSE (Ionian coast). Contrarily to the north-central Apennines Foredeep, which is characterized by depositional regressions in subsiding Quaternary remnant basins, the Bradanic Trough is characterized by erosional regressions due to the Quaternary uplift of the region.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
