L'errance ou "la recherche d'une manière d'habiter ce monde" (Bazot)

In literature, as well as in other areas, there is a sympathy on the 'outcasts' of contemporary society, so full of good feelings as well as of stereotypes. The latest book by Xavier Bazot, Camps volants (Champ Vallon, 2008), however, distinguishes itself by its fundamentally misleading, confusing nature. The writer, who is interested in the valley of the Marne, that is in a suburban, provincial France, made of highways, railways or waterways, of closed factories, is capable to make known some unusual or unexpected realities, that usually lie hidden in the folds of our modern world, in the hollows of our suburbs. In most cases, these "nomads spaces” and “banned beings” are strangers to the eyes of people. This is why, ultimately, the wandering in these areas without crops or buildings is reclaimed by Bazot as a full narrative structure, and experience is elevated to the rank of a privileged interpretative category.
