Drugs abuse is a major public health problem in the developed countries, nevertheless in the workplaces. Occupational Health Section "B. Ramazzini" of the Department of Internal Medicine and Public Medicine (DIMIMP), University ofBari, carried out a collaboration with the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory, in order to evaluate the application of the National Law into the Apulia refiion and to assess the relevant impact of drug consumption in particular workplaces. The study has been carried out on 236 workers of several job actirities (i.e. public or private transportation, army). From September 2008 to September 2009, urine samples were collected from each worker, according to the diagnostic and forensic science procedures spotted in the Jfeasure of Conference State-Region on the 18'" of September 2008. Of the 236 samples, 233 were from male subjects (mean age 34 years; range I9-60 years) and 3 from females (mean age 29 years; range 26-35). Our results show that the II,9% of the sample was positive to screening tests. Workers use mainly cannabis and the positivity was mainly founded in workers of public railway company.
