Antoine Wauters’s works challenge the link between politics – as a collective practice – and literature – an artistic form concerned with restoring a singular way of inhabiting the world. By working several times and in many ways on the notion of community, a dynamic construction site of links and ruptures, exclusions and inclusions – intimate and public at the same time – appears to question both the awareness of a loss and the desire to recompose a lost unity. Faced with conflicting situations, such as war and family relations, which Macro History and Micro History allow to emerge, writing would take charge – according to our hypothesis – of the staging of politics by exploring the resources of the lyrical subject as what a critical subject.

Abstract

Antoine Wauters’s works challenge the link between politics – as a collective practice – and literature – an artistic form concerned with restoring a singular way of inhabiting the world. By working several times and in many ways on the notion of community, a dynamic construction site of links and ruptures, exclusions and inclusions – intimate and public at the same time – appears to question both the awareness of a loss and the desire to recompose a lost unity. Faced with conflicting situations, such as war and family relations, which Macro History and Micro History allow to emerge, writing would take charge – according to our hypothesis – of the staging of politics by exploring the resources of the lyrical subject as what a critical subject.

L’œuvre d’Antoine Wauters met en tension le lien entre politique – en tant que pratique collective – et littérature – forme artistique soucieuse de restituer une manière singulière d’habiter le monde. En travaillant à plusieurs reprises et sous différentes formes sur la notion de communauté, un chantier dynamique de liens et de ruptures, d’exclusions et d’inclusions – intimes et publics à la fois – apparaît pour interroger tant la conscience d’une perte que le désir de recomposer une unité égarée. Face aux situations conflictuelles, comme la guerre et les relations familiales, que la grande Histoire et la petite histoire laissent émerger, l’écriture se chargerait – selon notre hypothèse – de la mise en scène du politique en explorant les ressources du sujet lyrique en tant que sujet critique.
