Rapporto tra infrastrutture, spazi pubblici ed edifici di culto cristiano in età tardo antica. Alcuni esempi dalle città dell’Italia centro-meridionale

Lo studio propone alcune riflessioni riguardo al tema del rapporto tra edifici di culto e assetti urbani della città tardoantiche, sulla base di esempi in Italia centro-meridionale. Il problema dell’ubicazione delle chiese nell’ambito dei quadri urbani viene valutato in relazione non solo con il foro e gli edifici di governo, ma anche con i percorsi viari, i santuari suburbani, le porte, il tessuto abitativo e gli spazi produttivi.

The paper suggests some considerations about the connection between the churches and the urban structure of Late Roman cities, by case-studies in Central-Southern Italy. The issue of the location of the churches in the urban settlements is evaluated not only in connection with the forum and the power building (as usually), but also in regard of the streets network, the suburban sanctuaries, the urban gates, the residential areas and artisanal districts.
