La Resjouissance sur la France désolée de Benoît Voron (1574) entre mémoire et oubli

In 1574, Benoît Voron wrote and published the Resjouissance sur la France désolée, pour l’heureux retour du Treschrestien Henry, troisiesme de ce nom, Roy de France et de Pologne: Faicte en forme de Dialogue in order to celebrate Henry III’s return from Poland to become king of France. The long poem, in the literary form of a dialogue between Resjouissance and France désolée, differs from traditional dialogues inspired by Latin and Greek authors. Voron was very young when he wrote the poem; but notwithstanding, the main characteristics of his style are already visible in this dialogue. This article proposes an analysis of the poem as a work mixing tradition and innovation (mémoire and oubli), and proposes a comparison between the Resjouissance and the main work of Voron, the play Comédie de l’Enfer poétique (1585).
