The work focuses on analysing operators’ preferences in choosing among different mobility options. Differently from previous applications, where the focus has been on producers, in order to gain insights from a wider spectrum of possible uses the application has involved a small sample of freight forwarders. In line with experimental economics methodology, maximum likelihood estimations are carried out in order to take account of the choice context. The outcome seems to confirm that, as expected, conjoing analysis represent a valid option to estimate the attitude of operators for specific service attributes. The empirical evidence confirms that freight rates are not the only determinant of modal choice, but that in choosing the specific alternative modes other factors play a relevant role. Most notably, reliability and frequency. Value of time, of frequency and of reliability are estimated and compared with those obtained in previous studies.
