The thesis at the base of this essay is that the connection between language, translation and hospitality are at the foundation of interculturality: acts of inter-translation and intra-translation destibilize monolinguism (Derrida 1996)and blur borders between categories, structures, cultures. The decolonization of the interrelation among language, translation and hospitality shows the workings of power in the course of history by revealing the linguistic violence implicated in the imposizion of a new language and eradication of a native language. The Mexican-american linguistic resistance to the erasure of Spanish and native roots is re-enacted by chicano female literary authors who create a creolized, mestizo word/world enhancing interculturality and mestizaje.
