Regulation n. 834/07 concerning Organic production and labelling introduces some relevant changes in European rules on organic farming. Indeed, introducing articles deal with general objectives and principles regulating the agricultural production, focusing on environmental principle, for two reason. The present article focusses on environmental principle, since it constitutes the natural prosecution of European rules concerning the promotion of environmental measures, that find an important application in the case of agricultural producers requiring aid for organic farming. Moreover, environmental protection characterize the consumers' demand for organic products. Furthermore, is is discussed how new regulation rules introduce a differentiation between national organic productions, by application of flexibility principle, that gives Member State the possibility to ask to the Commission specific derogations established in art. 22 and by the provision of using national labels for labelling and advertising of organic products (art. 25). Under the above circumstances, innovating rules of Regulation 834/07 provides new perspectives into agricultural production regulation, by modifying the original scheme of the European rules in this field wich become more characterized by national identification.
