One of the goals of the S.I. Ri. Ar. project is to make know and to improve the environmental and cultural heritage of the Fasano’s district, and thanks to the ways of communication, to reach and to involve a big and diversified public. The study group coordinated by Maria Stella Calò Mariani- professor of medieval history of art of the liberal art college in The University of Bari- made up by architects e historians of art, focused the investigation to the settlements and to the artistic evidences from the medieval age to the modern age, with the purpose to define, in tune with the others partners, an integrated and tourist route. Starting from a systematic reconnaissance of the contests even based on bibliographic and archivist investigations, proceeded to the realization of thematic maps and analytical files supplied with photos. In the territory were investigated the cave settlements and the manor farms, and monastic compounds and the cave churches, villas and “ little house”: in to the urban centre were investigated the phases of development and the road network, buildings and the private housing scheme (fasanese houses), churches, cloisters, and the industrial archaeological evidences. The study group produced essays with the purpose to show, with a global point of view some of the pregnant aspects of the cultural heritage of the area examined: Maria Stella Calò Mariani, Fasano: natura e arte (Fasano: nature and art); Angela Diceglie, Fasano: il contesto urbano (Fasano: the urban context); Maria De Mola, Vivere in villa (Living in to a villa). Following the same line the essay of Angelo Sante Trisciuzzi is about “Trasformazioni del territorio di Fasano. La Masseria di Parco di Castro tra Seicento e Ottocento” (Transformations of the territory of Fasano. The Masseria di Parco di Castro between the seventeenth century and the nineteenth century)
