Strange baryon and in particular multi-strange baryon production is suggested to be a useful probe in the search for quark gluon plasma formation in heavy ion collisions. We have measured the (Omega(-) + ($) over bar Omega(+))/(Xi(-) + ($) over bar Xi(+)) production ratio to be 0.8 +/- 0.4 at central rapidity and p(T) > 1.6 GeV/c.
