A simple procedure for the simultaneous detn. of pseudouridine and creatinine in urine using ion-pair HPLC with UV detection is described. It consists of simply dilg. the filtered urine and mobile phase (1:20) followed by direct chromatog. injection. A single anal. takes only 10 min. This method has been applied to the anal. of urine samples from normal donors and patients with different types of cancer. The mean values, x, of the peak-area ratio of pseudouridine to creatinine were 61.7910-3 and 81.9210-3 for male and female normal donors, resp. Out of twenty-five urine samples of patients with cancer examd., 19 (all the 14 males included) had values higher than x + 2.
