Abstract

This study focuses on the significance of the presence of animals in literature today and in particular on the possibility of finding a little humanity through animality, on the possibility of teaching man his share of humanity. by prose. The essential link between humans and animals today seems to be threatened by a radical change in the relationship between the two, a change that threatens both the animal species, in terms of extinction, and humanity to his turn. How does the presence of the animal in the novel help to build an effective reflection on the condition of man? Three texts, Une partie de chasse by Agnès Desarthe, Tiens ferme ta couronne by Yannick Haenel and Traversée by Francis Tabouret seemed representative of certain modalities of contemporary writing in the restitution of the relationship between men and animals on the background of sense of hunting. Humanity told by the animal says that the essential is probably in the animal world, in its strangeness to the turpitude of man and the threat it represents for them - «l'homme est une sale bête autant qu'une bête sale» (A. Ferney, Le Royaume des vivants, p. 71). Beyond the ecopoetic side of the 2000s, the presence of the animal in literature wants to contribute to restore the unity of the living, that is to say the reintegration of the human world and the natural world through narrative empathy for animals and recognition of their place.
