The objective of this research work is to analyze the preparatory process for the construction of TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) a gas pipeline which, strongly desired by the European Union and considered as a Project of Common Interest (PIC), after a distance of 870 kilometers from the Shah Deniz field in Azerbaijan through Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea, in its last stretch it covers 8 kilometers of the territory of the municipality of Melendugno (Lecce), a landing point at the San Foca beach, and therefore the site of the depressurization plant inland. The general interest in the construction of this infrastructure has clashed with the opposition from local administrators and environmental associations who consider the pipeline dangerous and above all in stark contrast to the trajectory of sustainable development undertaken by most of the municipalities of Salento dedicated to tourism. and quality agriculture. By analyzing the news disseminated by the 'new media', we try to identify the processes of collective perception regarding the "infrastructure / place" relationship, also in order to clarify the competitive mechanisms inherent in a multilevel ruler. The work ends by highlighting the existence of two 'exclusive' and opposing (pro TAP and No TAP) representations of the same heritage-territory, which ends up being transformed into a mere stakes of an 'autochthonous against allochthonous' arm wrestling that in fact, it seems rather to prevent the creation of a shared and supportive enhancement processors.
