Abstract

In this paper we reconsider the interpretation of Propertius 4.1.11-14 on the Senate, in the perspective of on the one hand the interventions made by Augustus to restore the Senate after the civil struggles on the other hand of the ideological construction behind these interventions and how they were received. We bestow special attention to the structure of the controversial verse 14 and we propose the recovery of the manuscript tradition.
