Abstract

How and why contemporary writers say the heart of the city? This "space of elsewhere" becoming "space being" is it not a place to get lost to find yourself, to regain space to be conquered? The urban route is perhaps soil reconstruction and narrative of the self, the protagonist's personal journey in search for a lost? To answer these questions, we have focused on some texts Arnaud Cathrine, Isabelle Mestre, Thomas Clerc, Yannick Haenel et Cécile Wajsbrot that solve, each in their own way in the development of novel city (and the individual in the city) and that focus most of the action in an inner-city (or in the heart of a metropolis). It analyzes the relationship between the experience of movement in the city and writing susceptible to shape texts unusual gladly integrated with pictures or music, to prove that the space of the city is above all an intimate space. Place of malaise and, at the same time, the neutral zone, the metropolis of today offers the possibility of a new reality, though elusive, when reconstituted.
