How and why does dance mix with the novel? This question is at the basis of a research on dance in the French literature of the last half-century. If the novel is another way of understanding the world, dance in literature becomes a way of writing differently, too. Between "stillness" and "action", this paper analyzes the relationship between body movement and the progression of the text, an energy necessary to a different dynamic of narration. A writing "in motion", the prose on dance turns out to be a force from which more imaginary spaces propagate, thus generating a re-invention of writing.
