“What improves the circumstances of the greater part can never be regarded as an inconvenience to the whole. No society can be flourishing and happy if the greater part of the members are poor and miserable” (Smith, 1776). Smith’s words are in tune with work of Yunus: to help subjects who usually cannot have access to banking services means to give millions of people the possibility to get out of poverty and to create a sustainable development. The aim of this work is to show that ethics in economics is relevant to decrease inequality, poverty and social exclusion. For this reason authors analyze the role played by micro credit institutions in generating a new model of development and reaching a higher degree of welfare.
