Considering the different pathogenetic characteristics of Ochratoxin A in animals and humans, a study was carried out in order to evaluate the effects and residues of Ochratoxin A in eggs layed by experimentally drugged hens and the amount of residues in marketed eggs. Ochratoxin A causes a quality decrease and a weight loss of the eggs, modifications of eggshell, egg white and yolk; however Ochratoxin A content, determined by High Performance Liquid Chromatography method, was undetectable in tested eggs.

Abstract
